“ What is in a typical cigarette filter? It may look like cotton, but 98 percent of cigarette filters are made of plastic fibers (cellulose acetate) that are tightly packed together, which leads to an estimated 1.69 billion pounds of cigarette butts winding up as toxic trash each year. ”

Please consider picking up your butts at least to keep them out of the oceans

For more information on Cigarette pollution:

https://www.businessinsider.com/new-study-shows-cigarettes-are-single-largest-source-of-ocean-trash-2018-9?IR=T The term "ocean pollution" often brings to mind images of straws, bottles, and other plastic trash.

Cigarette filters, however, are arguably a far more detrimental form of waste and haven't been given the attention they merit — until now.

The filters release pollutants from the smoke such as nicotine, arsenic, and lead which are consumed by various sea creatures and which end up in our own food again.
